A Chinese website has leaked images of the new Acura compact SUV that is set to debut at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition on April 25th. According to the website, the images and information come from official presentation slides.

Here’s what we learned from the Google-translated page:

    Named “CDX”
    Chinese domestic model
    Length: 4495 mm, Width: 1840 mm, Height: 1600 mm, Wheelbase: 2660 mm
    1.5-litre turbo
    Head-up display

Initial rumors suggested the CDX would be based on the Honda HR-V but the listed dimensions actually place it between the HR-V and the RDX in terms of size. We’ll have more info on Monday.

The Acura CDX was revealed at a media-only event a day before the official start to the 2016 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. Vietnamese website autopro.com.vn has posted a few exterior shots of the new crossover as it was presented on stage.

We haven’t seen an official news release from Acura yet, but it should come in the next 24 hours. The Acura CDX press conference is scheduled for Monday, April 25, 13:00 China Standard Time.

BEIJING, China, April 25, 2016 – Honda Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned Honda subsidiary in China, today exhibited the world premiere of the all-new Acura CDX compact SUV model at Auto China 2016.

The world premiere of Acura CDX, the first Acura model to be produced locally in China

The all-new Acura CDX is a compact SUV model designed primarily for the Chinese market. This model realizes a high-level fusion of emotional and sharp styling design based on the Acura Precision Concept, a concept styling model of Acura, as well as innovative technologies in the areas of both driving and environmental performance and excellent utility unique to SUV models. For the first time among all Acura models sold in China, the all-new CDX adopts a 1.5-liter turbo engine and 8DCT which realizes a powerful driving experience.

The all-new Acura CDX will be produced at the ZengCheng Plant (located in Guangzhou City) of Guangqi Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. and is scheduled to go on sale in July through Guangqi Honda Automobile Sales Co., Ltd., a sales subsidiary of Guangqi Honda which was established in December of 2015.

Acura CDX Prototype Spied in China



CarNewsChina.com has posted shots of the new Chinese market Acura CDX out in the wild. Although a few strips of camouflage tape hide the badging, there’s no mistaking the distinct design and grille of the CDX.

The photos are low quality, but they still manage to give us a fresh view of the CDX’s proportions from a distance. We also see how much better it looks in a darker blue opposed to the rather dull gold/beige color it debuted with last month at Auto China 2016.
