Built at the Honda manufacturing facility in Marysville, Ohio2 alongside the gasoline-powered Accord, the model features a new two-motor hybrid system that seamlessly blends electric-only, hybrid and engine drive modes along with powerful regenerative braking to provide responsive and efficient performance in a wide range of driving situations. The Accord Hybrid also earned the highest safety ratings from both the IIHS and NHTSA and is equipped with a host of standard features including a rearview camera, Bluetooth® connectivity and the Honda-exclusive LaneWatch™ display.

"For the Accord Hybrid our priority was not only to achieve outstanding fuel-efficiency but also make it fun-to-drive." said Michael Accavitti, senior vice president of auto operations for American Honda. "Being named a Driver's Choice is proof that buying a hybrid doesn't mean you have to give up the joy of driving."

Presented annually since 1983, the MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Award has been awarded 30 times to Honda vehicles. The winner of two Emmy awards, MotorWeek is television's longest running and most respected automotive series. Produced by Maryland Public Television, MotorWeek airs on 89 percent of PBS stations nationwide, and can also be seen on Discovery's Velocity and the V-me Spanish-language network.

Honda Duo Lauded for Owner Loyalty by IHS Automotive

The 2014 Honda Accord and Honda CR-V both received Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards recently, with IHS Automotive honoring the former in the “Non-Luxury Traditional Mid-Size Car” category and the latter recognized in the “Non-Luxury Compact CUV” class. The annual awards go to vehicles that satisfy their owners so completely that those drivers return to the same make or brand for their next purchase. This year’s performance was particularly sweet, too, since Honda earned its trophies in two of the industry’s most popular vehicle segments.

For the 2014 Honda Accord, it was yet further confirmation of the success of the brand-new Accord family that offers so many alternatives to today’s drivers. The Accord comes in both coupe and sedan configurations, with traditional, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, and its premium approach to the category also made it the best-selling car in the country in 2013 (on a retail-only basis).

Looking at the 2014 Honda CR-V, it was the best-selling crossover of any kind last year, while also joining the Accord and Honda Civic among just five cars to deliver more than 300,000 units during the previous selling season. Unsurprisingly, the CR-V also won its class in the 2013 Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards.

“Model loyalty largely depends on long-term customer satisfaction and keeping each vehicle at the top of its class, two things at which Honda excels,” said David Hendley, assistant vice president of sales at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “Being recognized by IHS Automotive in two of the largest and most competitive vehicle segments illustrates both the quality of our vehicles and the customer satisfaction efforts of Honda dealers across the country.”

Honda Accord Hybrid wins 2014 Canadian Green Car Award

Honda has reason to celebrate as the 2014 Accord Hybrid has been selected as the winner of this year’s Canadian Green Car Award.

The Canadian Green Car Award is a relatively new addition to the industry, which recognizes vehicles, widely available in Canada, that offer both impressive environmental attributes with strong mass-market appeal, since any product can have a significant impact only if it sells in large numbers.

The 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid won last year’s inaugural Canadian Green Car Award.

A panel of top Canadian automotive journalists selected the Accord Hybrid from among five other category winners. The Accord had won the Hybrid category, in a tie with Volkswagen’s Jetta Turbo

Vehicle assessments combined “objective” criteria, such as fuel economy, emissions and price, with the judges’ evaluations of performance, driving experience, value, features and “green” qualities.

The judges also considered factors such as the use of sustainable or recyclable materials, and measures taken by manufacturers to green their operations.

The category winners include:

Battery-Electric/Zero Emission: Nissan LEAF

Plug-in Hybrid: Ford C-MAX Energi

Full Hybrid: (*Tie) Honda Accord Hybrid and Volkswagen Jetta Turbo Hybrid

Efficient Gasoline or Diesel: Mazda3 (2.0-litre)

Internal Combustion - Efficient Three-Row Family Vehicle: Mazda5

Other nominees included the Tesla Model S, Ford Focus EV, Kia Soul EV, Cadillac ELR, Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid, Infiniti Q50 Hybrid, Chevrolet Cruze Diesel, Volkswagen Jetta TDI, Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid and Kia Rondo.

“Thank you to all the voting judges of the Canadian Green Car Award. It is an honour to have our Accord Hybrid recognized by so many of Canada’s most respected journalists,” said Dave Gardner, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing with Honda Canada Inc. “Joining the award-winning Accord family and sharing the fun-to-drive performance, sophisticated styling and premium comfort features of the Accord sedan, the Accord Hybrid offers a no-compromise vehicle for the extreme fuel saver.”
