SPIED: Facelifted Honda CR-V Caught Testing New Sheetmetal

Honda looks to be refining their compact utility in latest round of spy shots

Spotting testing in the Rocky Mountains, Honda looks to be giving the CR-V compact utility a bit of the facelift in the very near future, including a new front fascia and some newly styled wheels.

Up front, the Honda CR-V pictured features a new two-slat grille and redesigned headlights. The lower fascia incorporates a new secondary air intake and replaces the current generation’s round fog lights with new horizontal versions integrated into the bumper.

The rear sees an end to flat-bottomed rear window glass while tweaking the taillights and rear bumper. Also, the wheels adorned on this particular mule don’t seem to be currently offered on the CR-V.

Interior changes are also on the horizon, as KGP noted “testers appeared to be covering a redesigned dashboard, suggesting that the CR-V is also due to get some needed upgrades to the interior.” Hopefully, this means Honda will be ditching their current infotainment offerings and giving the electronics a much-needed rework.

Expect the next CR-V to make land in Canada sometime in 2015 as a 2016 model.

Spied: 2015 Honda CR-V

Our spy photographers have sent us new images of Honda's revised 2015 CR-V undergoing hot weather testing in Death Valley.

Introduced in its current form in 2012, Honda's popular CR-V will undergo a mid-cycle refresh for the 2015 model year. Although a minor nip-and-tuck, the 2015 CR-V will arrive with a few styling tweaks, including a new front grille, re-shaped headlights and updated fog lights. Outback it will be more of the same, with the CR-V adopting new taillights and a restyled tailgate.

The 2015 CR-V will also be treated to a new set of alloy wheels.

Our spies managed to snap a photo of the CR-V's interior, but it doesn't look like any major revisions are in the works. One thing is for certain - the new CR-V won't offer a standard touchscreen infotainment system like the Civic and Fit.

Under hood we hear the 2015 CR-V could borrow the direct-injection 2.4L four-cylinder from the Accord. Horsepower would stay the same at 185, but the addition of DI could push the CR-V from 163 lb-ft of torque to 181 lb-ft. A CVT would replace the CR-V's current five-speed auto.

No word on when we might see the 2015 Honda CR-V, but this November's LA auto show seems like a logical launching point.
